NASAMS consists of the Sentinel A3 radar, Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace’s Fire Distribution Center, launcher, and Raytheon Missile & Defense’s suite of effectors, including the Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missile, or AMRAAM®, Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missile Extended Range, or AMRAAM-ER®, and AIM-9X®.

In October 2021, Raytheon Missiles & Defense unveiled a new medium-range air and missile defense radar for NASAMS called GhostEye® MR.

NASAMS provides air defenders with a tailorable, state-of-the-art defense system that can maximize their ability to identify, engage and destroy current and evolving enemy aircraft, unmanned aerial vehicle and emerging cruise missile threats.

Homeland Defense

NASAMS is operated by 13 countries and has been integrated into the U.S. National Capital Region’s air defense system since 2005. In addition to the U.S., Norway, Finland, Spain, The Netherlands, Oman, Lithuania, Indonesia, Australia, Qatar, Hungary, Ukraine and one undisclosed country depend on NASAMS for homeland defense and the protection of critical assets.

Continually Upgraded Technology

In partnership with Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace, we continuously integrate new capabilities into NASAMS.

Built on a modular, distributed, open-hardware and software architecture, NASAMS is positioned to embrace new technologies, capabilities and features. As the NASAMS user community grows, continuous upgrades will provide the most technologically advanced and combat-ready system in the world.
