A defense powerhouse

Raytheon Missiles & Defense solutions provide a formidable force against all threats

Raytheon Missiles & Defense, a business of Raytheon Technologies, forges into the future on a foundation of advanced innovation and excellence in engineering.

This mission is everything.

It’s what drives Raytheon Missiles & Defense to create a safer future for those who depend on the company’s technology and support: the United States as well as its allies and warfighters, along with the citizens and infrastructures they are responsible to protect.

“We see the world through a global lens and we’ve built a solid foundation to bring end-to-end solutions to our customers to counter modern emerging threats,” said Wes Kremer, president of Raytheon Missiles & Defense.

The Air Force veteran leads 30,000 employees, including 15,000 engineers, across 30 U.S. states and 28 other countries. He oversees a broad portfolio of air and missile defense systems, precision weapons, radars, command and control systems and other increasingly advanced defense technologies.

“We want to be the place our customers turn to for tackling their most complex challenges and toughest threats,” Kremer said.

Customized capabilities

To that end, the company offers a wide range of defense franchises. Among them: Global Patriot Solutions, the U.S. Navy’s SPY-6 family of radars, Tomahawk cruise missiles, the Standard Missile family of interceptors, StormBreaker smart weapon and the AN/TPY-2 Surveillance Radar

Raytheon Missiles & Defense takes a customer-centric approach, focused on each customer’s specific concerns and needs, and tailoring solutions that integrate key capabilities that include:

  • Sensors that are no longer just radars. They’re now able to perform multiple tasks, including sensing and communications, providing unprecedented visibility through all kinds of conditions to detect, discriminate and track targets across all domains.
  • Command and control systems that provide actionable data and situational awareness to enable quick and smart decision-making in a complicated battlespace.
  • Missiles and interceptors that target and neutralize incoming threats within a variety of ranges in all kinds of environments and from multiple platforms.

And, what sets Raytheon Missiles & Defense apart as the world’s leading, largest missile maker is its track record of innovation. “Through digital transformation, we’re driving a new level of efficiency and velocity in every aspect of our business” Kremer said, “from modeling and simulation and agile software development to automated manufacturing and predictive analytics. This way, we’re able to develop, execute and deliver solutions faster.”

Joint force

Raytheon Missiles & Defense is the combination of two former business units of Raytheon Company—Raytheon Missile Systems and Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems—which joined forces when Raytheon Company merged with United Technologies Corporation in April 2020.

As a result, Raytheon Missiles & Defense offers the advantages of a consolidated, collaborative team with the talent and technology to detect, track, intercept and engage the constantly evolving threats around the world. “Global customers experience the direct benefit of working with a streamlined, nimble organization that has more resources to address their needs,” Kremer noted.

The company’s mission-level expertise and integrated system approach delivers unprecedented value through greater synergy, faster results and lower costs. And, through its transformative technologies and initiatives, Raytheon Missiles & Defense is also redefining the industry overall. In short, it is now, as Kremer said, a “defense powerhouse.”
